Motorcycle

This afternoon I was driving back to the office. When I approached the traffic light, it turned red. I stopped the car. All other cars stopped. But a couple of motorcyclists didnt. Without stopping, turned their head to quickly check and upon making quick smart conclusion that theres no imminent danger from the opposite direction, continued their journey hitting the red light. Well done guys, you did it well, you didnt get hit this time! Imagine if the probability of being hit is one in a thousand, then on the 1000th attempt you may get hit, even nobody wish that on you!

Maybe I dont understand because I dont ride motorcycle. It has been annoying me to observe them (certainly not all but most) during my daily hours of journey on the road and they seem to infer

1. road rules dont seem to apply to motorcyclist e.g. they dont have to obey the traffic lights

2. its important for them to arrive at their workplace or destination in the shortest time possible

3. dont ever try to cause them to press on the brakes while they are moving otherwise youll be the receiving end of their wrath, their brakes are to be used only when they arrive at the destination

4. the space in between road lanes is their right of way, dont ever try to cross it even if you have given signal for half an hour to change lane

5. they dont think about their safety and family, other motorist must think for them. If you hit them, its your fault , not theirs

6. they dont watch out for other vehicles, never give way, never queue. Others have to.

7. They can speed real fast in the midst of traffic jam

8. if they knock your side view mirror and broke it, they just have to raise their hand as signal of apology, theres no need to pay for the damage

9. the pedestrian pathway alongside the road is their exclusive parking space

In this country, the amount of small cc motorcycle is huge, more than half of total vehicles, (which I think maybe proportional to the number of small income group people). Some study made had shown that the number of motorcycle accidents is proportional to the power of traffic flow, i.e. Motorcycle accident α (Total No of vehicles)2..

If they know this fact they should be more careful but I think they gamble with their life on daily basis. What are they thinking?
