New dictionary

Since this year Emir has been picking up lots of words and started to talk. Hes also been copying words and sentences from Fatini. When they argued, whatever Fatini said he would repeat the same to Fatinis agitation offcourse who then started the Dont copy me! And Emir would repeat that Dont copy me! too!

However he mispronounced most words he talks (very pelat). Due to daily interaction, I can understand most of what he means. However poor daddy cant and was most of the time at a lost. Its very frustrating to Emir if I give wrong response to his sentences. Like when he asked me wheres his particular toy and me because I couldnt get it, answered okay…” it gets him frustrated. So when I have such difficulties I would ask Fatini who obviously to my surprise understands completely Emirs language and thus become my official translator. Like last night, I really couldnt make out what Emir was saying, and he started to cry out of frustration so I asked Fatini, What does Emir want kakak? And without raising her head from whatever she was doing, just translated it to me. I felt it was so amazing the relationship between these two children. However its such a joy to listen to Emirs speech and trying to make the meaning out of it.

Weekend with families

Weekend was another busy one. On Saturday afternoon we went to KLIA to welcome my mother and sis in law coming back from Umrah. We arrived on time with the flight arrival from Saudi Airline. But the wait was long. We brought the kids to the observation hall and they were excited to see the planes and train. They were making so much noise and Emir was screaming at the top of his lungs. He developed that screaming habit recently. I let them wild for a while to express their enthusiasm. And the space in the hall was also huge for them to run around and there were not so many people so I dont get too worried about losing them.

Then we went back to the arrival hall. Well, it was really taking a long time for them to get out. I figured because there were a few flights arriving around the same time and baggage collection maybe was the reason for the delay. My sis family was also there waiting.

Finally they came out with big baggage. My niece was excited to see her Wan who she missed. Hug and kisses. Manja Wan habis. My Sis Intan went for her children. She left her two young kids for two weeks, I could almost understand how she must be feeling. And the kids must be missing their mom a lot. Kesian betul dengan Nabila and Hakeem! But young kids are very tough.

I took my mom and niece home. Upon reaching home I cooked dinner. Goreng goreng only. That night Fatini and Emir all got their presents from Wan. Nothing for me! Sob, sob. When our mother got grandchildren, say goodbye for any presents for us.

Sunday afternoon, we went back to Melaka to send my mother to our hometown. Since it was a day trip for my family, we decided I was to drive going to and my hubby would drive going back to lessen the exhaustion of traveling. My father was well and actually looked better than he had before. I am thinking maybe we should get a physiotherapy treatment for him as hes been immobile for quite some time. I brought bubur pulut hitam from home which I cooked the night before and shared the bowl with him. He knows my mother was back and I could see that he cried.

For dinner we ordered pizza (3 large ones) and spaghetti for the little ones. My sis Liza, Rais and Angahs family all joined us. Haziq my nephew 15 year old is so tall already. We sat at the table talking until 11pm and sadly by then it was time to leave for home since Ive got to get to work today.

Growing Older Gracefully

While I was walking in the KLCC with my friend after having lunch, I bumped into a couple of women I used to work with a few years ago. So we were like excited to see each other, and went to the usual hi, how are you, nice to see you and all that. Then they exclaimed to my delight that I look slim now and so stylish, and whats your secret and so on, which sort of made me very happy off course. Complements coming are very rare as I grow older and dah beranak pinak and especially coming from women are even more uncommon. So when I get these complements, it actually really made me pleased. I was widely smiling ear to ear. I must be looking very foolish and perasan habis-habisan !

Actually when I first met them I was a day away from my due date. Then the next few years working with them, I was either pregnant or just delivered or getting pregnant again. So for three or so continuous years I was just like perpetually looked pregnant. Bloating with water retention, nursing babies, etc. Then I got pregnant twice again which ended in miscarriages and D&Cs.

Now my youngest Emir is going three this year end and I have slowly lost all the previous pregnancy weight. But Ive still got some hated handles around my waist to lose, which bulge out when I sit down. Not so comfortable or pleasant to look see. Anyway I could put on the old shirts back and buy new nicer ones. I like putting on nice outfits and still look good. So that my children will remember me in a nice way. Well, I really want to grow old gracefully.

Mere me

My job requires me to be very technical. Day in and day out I am engrossed in facts, figures, programs, technical discussion, calculations etc. I am in the job where 95% is dominated by the opposite sex and that means ego plays are predominant. I have been doing this for years and years. When I am done with the day, normally I was so mentally and physically exhausted. So when I go somewhere else, I dont certainly want to talk about anything intelligent, work, get into argument or talk anything serious. I dont really talk about work with my husband, we go home automatically conversations will not include work. Not his, not mine. I played with my children and watched the Entertainment Channel which is my favourite channel on Astro. Admiring the actresses and singers. Their beauty and wealth. Whatever they have and I dont have. Otherwise I watched the CSI, House, Ghost Whisperer and equivalent series.

When I go out with female friends we talk about local light gossips, clothes, belts, shoes, handbags, hair, diet, all the things that some people say bimbos talk about. I dont buy Times, Economists, Newsweek, Oil&Gas Journals, etc, even though sometimes I receive them free. I buy HELLO, PEOPLE, JELITA, HOT, HER WORLD and the likes and whenever I found any tabloids, I really love to read. This is my way to relax my mind. To take my mind to another fun world temporarily. This is also my check and balance between being a nerd and an attractive person. Who says a technical person must be looking professional at all times, unexciting, unwomanly and nerdy.

Once I met a woman at a very highly regarded dinner event. Shes a wife of somebody who was invited to the function. Since she was sitting next to me at the table, I tried to start a conversation. She told me she didnt like to talk about trivials like shoes, handbags, and gossips like other women, she considered it boring and stupid. Her remark sort of stunted me for a second.

Okay, if you talk about that kind of things day in and day out maybe theres something wrong with you or you are in the industry where that kind of thing is important. But I was like thinking, I just want to have some fun time here. Well if you dont want to talk about trivials would you understand if I open discussion on my professional expertise. I could join the men in their conversation and left you out but I was trying to be a mere woman here.

It seems that some woman potray status by certain definition. I am not like that. I just want to be respected at work but outside work I just want to be a person, an attractive, interesting and friendly one.

Motorcycle

This afternoon I was driving back to the office. When I approached the traffic light, it turned red. I stopped the car. All other cars stopped. But a couple of motorcyclists didnt. Without stopping, turned their head to quickly check and upon making quick smart conclusion that theres no imminent danger from the opposite direction, continued their journey hitting the red light. Well done guys, you did it well, you didnt get hit this time! Imagine if the probability of being hit is one in a thousand, then on the 1000th attempt you may get hit, even nobody wish that on you!

Maybe I dont understand because I dont ride motorcycle. It has been annoying me to observe them (certainly not all but most) during my daily hours of journey on the road and they seem to infer

1. road rules dont seem to apply to motorcyclist e.g. they dont have to obey the traffic lights

2. its important for them to arrive at their workplace or destination in the shortest time possible

3. dont ever try to cause them to press on the brakes while they are moving otherwise youll be the receiving end of their wrath, their brakes are to be used only when they arrive at the destination

4. the space in between road lanes is their right of way, dont ever try to cross it even if you have given signal for half an hour to change lane

5. they dont think about their safety and family, other motorist must think for them. If you hit them, its your fault , not theirs

6. they dont watch out for other vehicles, never give way, never queue. Others have to.

7. They can speed real fast in the midst of traffic jam

8. if they knock your side view mirror and broke it, they just have to raise their hand as signal of apology, theres no need to pay for the damage

9. the pedestrian pathway alongside the road is their exclusive parking space

In this country, the amount of small cc motorcycle is huge, more than half of total vehicles, (which I think maybe proportional to the number of small income group people). Some study made had shown that the number of motorcycle accidents is proportional to the power of traffic flow, i.e. Motorcycle accident α (Total No of vehicles)2..

If they know this fact they should be more careful but I think they gamble with their life on daily basis. What are they thinking?

A mishap

I have to highlight this, posted by The Star, such pointless mistake, ending in tragedies. You could have read similar heartbreaking incidences involving running over own children. A nightmare to anybody. Please, please avoid this kind of tragedy! Nauzubillah hi min zalik.

Woman runs over hubby at home

KOTA TINGGI: A woman accidentally killed her husband when she ran over him in their driveway while trying to reverse her car.

The 49-year-old woman was about to reverse when she accidentally put the gear into drive mode and pressed the accelerator pedal.
